Dr. Cathi Grus

The National Register of Health Service Psychologists is delighted to announce the appointment of Dr. Catherine (Cathi) L. Grus as the new Chief Psychologist Officer (CPO). As CPO, Cathi will be the National Register’s primary strategist and spokesperson on professional practice issues. Her key responsibilities include serving as a National Register representative to the practice community and practice-oriented organizations, supporting advocacy efforts, and developing programmatic activities for credentialed HSPs and the broader psychological community.

About Our New Chief Psychologist Officer

Catherine L. Grus earned her PhD in clinical psychology from Nova University. She completed her doctoral internship at the University of Miami School of Medicine and postdoctoral fellowship at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine. Before joining the National Register, she worked at the American Psychological Association for almost twenty years and served as Chief Education Officer for the last five years. Before that, Dr. Grus was a clinical assistant professor at the University of Miami School of Medicine providing direct clinical care and responsible for the department’s APA accredited internship program.

Dr. Grus brings a wealth of knowledge, experience and connections to the CPO position. We are delighted to welcome her to the National Register team and excited about what we will accomplish together.

The National Register fosters and empowers an inclusive community of health service psychologists and psychology doctoral students devoted to providing exemplary healthcare. We are dedicated to clinical education and professional development, credentialing, advocacy for the profession, charitable giving, and the promotion of psychological services to consumers.

The National Register of Health Service Psychologists was established in 1974 and is the largest credentialing organization for psychologists and psychology doctoral students. We are an independent nonprofit organization dedicated to improving healthcare by identifying psychologists who meet specific education and training standards, and by verifying these professionals to consumers, healthcare organizations, and regulatory bodies. The National Register currently credentials 10,000 Health Service Psychologists and has approximately 5,000 psychology doctoral student and postdoctoral trainee members of its Associate Program.
